Harrry Oldham was in the Royal Albert Hospital from the 1920s to the 1980s.  In a reminiscence session in Lancaster in the late 1980s he recalled a rhyme about work.

(The words of the rhyme are the same as those used to end a longer song from Brockhall, remembered by Betsy Bell: ‘God made the bees’.

Transcript:

“God made the bees,

Bees made the honey,

The patients do the work,

While the staff get the money.”
