This is a study of staff stories about resettlement from long-stay institutions in North West England. The study was commissioned by the North West Training and Development Team and North West Regional Valuing People Support Team. Melanie Chapman and Duncan Mitchell were the researchers who carried out the study.
Included in this collection are: a number of interview transcripts of staff who had worked at institutions, such as Calderstones, Brockhall and the Royal Albert; as well as the study’s report – ‘And people said they will never do it!’ along with an abstract of a conference paper presented at the Open University’s Social History of Learning Disability in 2010.
